It’s no surprise that mangoes are reported to be the most consumed fruit in the world. Native to the tropics, the largest producer of mangoes is India, but there is no doubt that they are enjoyed all over the globe. While the harvest seas on spans May to October, the Caribbean is now enjoying the peak of mango season and the Zapata Farm is blooming with organically grown mangoes ripe for the picking.

Recent hotel guests have been able to savor the sweet nectar of this fruit in the freshly squeezed morning juice and in the colorfully vibrant fruit platters that are a breakfast tradition at Hotel Zapata. With reportedly over 2,000 different varieties, mangoes range in size from a few ounces to as much as four pounds. A nutritionally decadent fruit, mangoes are a rich source of vitamins A, B, C, and E.

They are also high in fiber, antioxidants, potassium, niacin, iron, beta carotene and are relatively low in calories. While most locals might argue that the best way to savor this mouth-watering fruit is sliced and lightly sprinkled with salt, mangoes can (and should be) enjoyed in a variety of ways.
